Urban Nature Escape at the Myriad Botanical Gardens

One of the things I love most about Oklahoma City is how it constantly surprises me. Today I spent a couple of hours at the Myriad Botanical Gardens, and it honestly felt like a secret jungle tucked into the heart of downtown.

I’ve passed by it so many times growing up, but stepping inside the Crystal Bridge Conservatory felt like entering another universe—one filled with humid air, exotic plants, and dreamy light bouncing off glass and greenery. I wore my favorite floral sundress, not even realizing how perfectly I’d match the setting. The orchids, ferns, and tiny waterfalls created a space that felt totally serene and a little bit magical.

As someone who thrives in beautiful, calm places, this garden was just what I needed. Being a mixed Chinese-Filipina woman in Oklahoma, I’ve learned to find and create my own peace wherever I go. There’s something really grounding about being surrounded by life—lush, blooming, colorful life. It reminds me of visiting gardens back in the Philippines, too, so it felt extra special.

Whether you’re a local or just passing through OKC, this spot is 100% worth your time. Bring your camera, take a solo stroll, and soak up some green. Bonus points if you time your visit when the light streams in just right—it’s perfect for photos and quiet reflection.
